David Letterman in conversation with Donald Trump / The Late Show with David Letterman / CBS

26th of October 2012

DL: Now, where were these made?

DT: These were made … I don't know where they were made. They were made some place and they are great. It's ties, shirts, cufflinks, everything. Sold at Macy's and they are doing great. Number one selling tie anywhere in the world.

DL: Number one selling tie anywhere in the world!

DT: I would not wear that shirt …

DL: … You would not wear that shirt.

DT: You also have them in white. Beautiful white …

DL: Where are the shirts made?

Voice from background: Bangladesh.

DT: Good! We employ People in Bangladesh … they have to work too.

DL: Ties, where are the ties made? These are beautiful ties.

DT: They are great ties.

DL: The ties are made in where … China?

Background voice: China

DL: Ties are made in China.

[Laughter and applause]

DT: You know, I'll tell you …

[Applause]

DT: You know what, David, in all fairness … I've been very open about that … and not all of them, by the way … but I've been open about that. Are you OK? Is the chair … ? The chair was made in China.

DL: The chair was made in China.

DT: You buy that at Macy's by the way.

DL: Let's just, let's just, let's just … shut down the Donald Trump factory in Beijing …

DT: I would love to!

DL: … and we will put up a tie factory in Jamaica, Queens.

DT: I love it!

DL: And we will make the Donald Trump …

DT: I love it! I am for it!

DL: … we will make the Donald Trump ties there.
